I received an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. 

The premise of this book sounded amazing, it sounded like something so interesting, fascinating, dark and even enlightening.. but it was nothing like that. I'm still not entirely sure what I think about this book, all I know is that I'm definitely disappointed. 

There were a few comments made by Paul, the main character, that really irritated me, they were slightly sexist. I'm not entirely sure what the author was getting at, or if it was done on purpose or not but I definitely picked up on some of it - constantly mentioning how one of the girls killed wasn't good looking, so what did it matter? It honestly shocked me. 

Another comment I made on a status update of the book on Goodreads is that I didn't like the main character's attitude. I couldn't even begin to tell you what that was about, but those were my thoughts whilst reading the book. I didn't connect with Paul, he wasn't likeable, I didn't care about him or his family or anything he said, I didn't even know why he cared so much about the shooter. I was just completely detached from it. 

One thing that got to me a lot was the writing style in parts of the book, I understand it was supposed to be like that, but it was just a pain to try and read and decipher the words, that took a lot of time for me to read! 

The moral of this story, as there is in most novels, isn't good. It's bad, they all go about things in the wrong way, I don't want to spoil anything, and I'm trying hard not to but to still get my point across so bare with me.. but let's just say, two wrongs don't make a right. 

Overall, it was an 'okay' book to read, but I thought the ending would have taken a complete different route, which (in my opinion) would have probably been better, but I guess there's not much that can be done now! I rated this book a 2* and probably wouldn't recommend this if you're looking for something a bit darker and more sinister, but if you want something light and a little predictable, then you'll like this!
